How to download digital photos to Computer?

I don't have the camera yet, and have never had a digital camera, so recommendations would be great. Also, when I take the photos, how do I get them into my computer and into "My Pictures". Step-by-step please. I don't know anything about this.

1. Its nice to see smurfy that you are at last coming into the modern world. I regret that as I am shortly going abroad for some time that it is not possible to help you on this one. However I am sure that one of our yahoo answerer colleagues will be able to tell you exactly how to do it. Once you have your picture in digital form than its easy peasy. I look forward to seeing the results!! Actually if you know somebody with a digital camera or even a phone that takes pictures they can download onto their computer and then e-mail it to yours. I download from my phone via a cable into the computer-can also do it with blue-tooth or infra red but a cable is very easy-just plug it in to the phone and I had a disc that came with the phone which put the program for downloading pictures from the phone into the computer- and the program does the rest. Boxes come up asking you what you want and as you click on them it progresses through until you have the pictures in your file.
